The Outstanding Effects of Values

Values are extremely powerful tools in setting a consistent basis to what a person or an organization holds as important. In essence, values should not really change depending on a situation or the people involved because these are the founding factors that underpin a business’ success and reputations. Although a lot of people might think that it would do well to be flexible or malleable, this should definitely not apply to one’s ethics.

How Values Drive Sales Success

Aside from the value of your financial propositions or sales statistic figures, the most important value of all is one that imparts something worthy to your clients. This may be in the form of customer relationship or the kind of solution you are essentially offering. However, this value will fundamentally lie in the kind of values you hold for yourself, the one that encompasses your principles and your standard of behavior.

Step 1 to Pushing Past Your Limits: Change Your Physical State

In order to surpass your limitations, one of the first things you can do is to change your physical state. The only thing that can prevent you from your attaining your goals is your self-imposed boundaries. Whether it’s your fears, doubts and mental or physical state that are hindering you from achieving your aims, do know that this can easily be remedied by taking on a conscious decision to change.

What Matters to Customers Today

As the times change, people do too – the customer is an evolving creature, and as such, the salesman needs to evolve as well. Seth Godin, entrepreneur, writes about this on his blog, saying that those that are successful distinguish themselves by understanding what matters.

You’re not building your bankroll, you’re building a relationship

Sales is a process, not a result. The mistake that many salesmen make is focusing too hard on raking in the dollars. Rather than being results-oriented, a successful salesperson looks to cultivate a relationship between himself and the customer. The job of a salesman or sales closer is to create relationships with clients and recognize when they are showing interest; in doing so, they put themselves in a position to close deals for the clients and companies for which they are hired. This is a process, but one that ultimately profits both parties. By approaching the sale the correct way, that is, by looking first to build a relationship with the customer and understanding his or her needs, then the correct sale can be made.

Sales Training: Putting yourself in their shoes

One of the things all sales closers should do is to put themselves in their customers’ shoes. Essentially, this means embodying the Golden Rule of sales training: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” “I have a dream” How important is the capacity to put oneself into another’s shoes? In one of the most stirring speeches in recorded history, Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech, it is precisely King’s capacity to put himself in others’ positions that makes the speech so compelling. The speech’s most notable rhetorical characteristic is its repetition of the phrase “I have a dream.”

Sales Training: Persistence Pays

The sale doesn’t have to be closed the first or second time you encounter a customer. Nor does it have to happen the third or fourth time. A sale can take dozens, even hundreds of tries to complete – and even then, it’s not a guarantee. Many sales just never end up happening. It takes persistence and a thick skin to be a salesperson – you just cannot take rejection personally. Sometimes the customer just doesn’t need or want the product.

You’re not building your bankroll, you’re building a relationship

Sales is a process, not a result. The mistake that many salesmen make is focusing too hard on raking in the dollars. Rather than being results-oriented, a successful salesperson looks to cultivate a relationship between himself and the customer. The job of a salesman or sales closer is to create relationships with clients and recognize when they are showing interest; in doing so, they put themselves in a position to close deals for the clients and companies for which they are hired. This is a process, but one that ultimately profits both parties. By approaching the sale the correct way, that is, by looking first to build a relationship with the customer and understanding his or her needs, then the correct sale can be made.

Being stuck in a rut especially means succumbing to an old and worn pattern that is essentially not working for you. Time and effort expended in your current state will amount to nothing unless you take the time out to assess the things you are doing wrong – these wrong things are what actually keeps you from advancing.
