Embrace Change And Watch Yourself Grow
Some philosopher once said that the only permanent thing in this life is change. But why are so many of us so afraid of it? Change brings about new things and people often have a negative reaction to things that are not familiar. Man has a tendency to stick to situations, places, and persons that he’s become comfortable with and may reject the idea of having his comfort zone disrupted by change. However, change may not be all that bad.
Why Should We Accept Change?
We cannot stop change from happening and if we use our energy to fight it, we may find ourselves at the losing end. There is simply no stopping change because it is the natural way of things. People grow old and the seasons change. It’s just how the world was created. This is the reason why people must learn to embrace change and accept it.
The Many Benefits Of Change
- The many changes in our life allow us to have new experiences. If there is no change, people’s lives will be comfortable, yes its true. However, it could also become monotonous. On the other hand, change can rouse a person into activity. A stagnant life can kill your drive, ambition, and passion for new things. You might be living a less fulfilling life if you reject any change in your situation.
- Getting out of your comfort zone can broaden your horizon. Imagine working in the same company and doing the same job for ten years. A new venture allows you to see new things, meet new people, and do other things that you might also be good at.
- When something new presents itself, new prospects and new opportunities are opened. A person is able to set new objectives in life, new goals that he can look forward to achieving.
How To Accept Change
The key to being able to accept the changes happening in our lives is to never think of it as a drawback. Change should always be regarded as something positive. But how can we do that when our life seems so altered from the way it was before?
As mentioned earlier, change is a natural process in life and in this world. It is futile to try to fight change, hence, it is best to embrace it in order to have a more fruitful life. Embracing change will require every person to be proactive and optimistic. Proactive means working with the change that has happened to you. The death of a loved one is not the end of the world or the end of your own life. Live on and find meaning in the passing of your special person. When faced with changes that affect our lives, such as the loss of a job, failure to pass an important exam, or bankruptcy of a business, we must always maintain a positive outlook. Perhaps, a better job awaits you and the business you had wasn’t the right one for you. Exams can always be retaken. Staying optimistic is the key to overcome the effects of change. And the best way to accept change is to learn from it.
